Why Virginia Highland Is One of Atlanta’s Most Popular Neighborhoods in the Atlanta Area
What if I told you there was a neighborhood in Atlanta with Michelinated restaurants, access to parks, minutes from the city, amazing restaurants and nightife without getting on the highway, and you can come home to a charming craftsman bungalow. Well, this neighborhood is called Virginia Highland, and it’s right in the center of Atlanta. I’m going to tell you more about why I love this neighborhood and why it’s so popular.
So, first I’m going to talk about the schools, the architecture, and the access to Atlanta so you get to know a little bit more about this neighborhood and if it’s the right fit. Now, before we dive in, I do the research on these neighborhoods so you don’t have to. Because again, as an Atlanta Realtor for over 22 years, I my that’s the most fun part of my job is helping you not only find your house, the neighborhood that fits what you’re looking for. Now, let’s get to it about Virginia Highland. Reason people live here is because this is where walking happens. You’re right at the intersection, which is its namesake, Virginia and Highland, called Virginia Highland. It’s not the Highlands. That’s a misnomer by by out oftowners. That’s a neighborhood. That’s a city in North Carolina. But Virginia Highland is the epicenter of the neighborhood where the business districts sort of meet. Now, from there, everything is on foot. You can start your morning off by coffee, buying a pastry, get on the belt line, go to the park, hit Pon City Market, and even hit a James Beard award-winning chef or or bartender at one of the restaurants in the district. It’s really where you can spend the entire day.
Architecture and Home Prices
Let’s talk about the architecture and home prices. Now, this is the one of the largest collections of Craftsman homes in the city. And the price points are a bit steep because again, it’s it’s really desirable. These home prices range anywhere between on the average of about a million upwards up to about 3 million. The average price per square foot is running between about $500 and $700 a square foot. The average for Atlanta is somewhere around 350. So, we’re coming to this neighborhood because of charm, connectivity to the neighbors and the neighborhood and the festivals that the neighbors throw.>
Parks and the Outdoors
Now, let’s talk about some of the parks and the things that get you outdoors and connected with your neighbors. John Howell Park on Virginia Avenue has tennis courts, green space, and it’s really the neighborhood social hub along with Orm Park. This is also on Virginia, the playground. It’s small again. The neighbors love to to connect there. And all this leads to the the belt line and Piedmont Park, one of the largest parks in Atlanta as you pass by. And these are connected through the east trail of the belt line. Now this is the connectivity between Virginia Highland, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, and Pont City Market. Joggers, dogs, and bikers love this corridor, this connectivity. It’s called the Emerald Necklace of Atlanta, connecting the parks within the city because now to go jogging or ride a bike is a bit challenging later in the day. So if you want to hit this park, hit it in the morning. It’s a little little safer, too.
Area Schools
Now, let’s talk about the schools. Now, Springdale Park Elementary School, highly regarded, one of the top rated schools in the Atlanta public school system, as well as Howard Middle School. That’s on John and Wesley Dobs. A good in town option for public school. And these all lead to what formerly was known as Grady High School, now known Midtown High School, located in Midtown, just adjacent to again Pedmont Park and Virginia Highland.
